Great Locations
Nature Camp is based at Magnuson Park, a 300-acre Seattle park on Sand Point Way NE. With a mile of lake shoreline, a variety of habitats, grassy playfields, and convenient access, Magnuson is the ideal place for fun summer learning.
Our camp in West Seattle is held at Explorer West Middle School. (10015 28th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98146) Close to parks with wonderful natural spaces to explore, camp at this location was a great success last year, that we're doing it again and adding an additional week!
Convenient Camp Hours
Weeklong sessions run Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Trained, Professional, Enthusiastic Staff
Campers are taught by experienced, caring adult Naturalists. All Nature Camp staff Naturalists are college graduates, and most have or are currently working on a master's degree in education. Staff is selected based on experience with working with youth, a background in environmental education and natural science, and outstanding character. All staff are First Aid/CPR certified and have passed a national and Washington State Patrol background screening. Naturalists also go through extensive training prior to the beginning of the summer.

Field Groups
With field groups of 10-12 campers with each adult Naturalist and teenage Junior Naturalist, campers have a better experience and form closer bonds. Groups are assigned based on grade level, and have their own designated spaces for daily activities.
Preschool and Kindergarten sessions have field groups of 8-10.
Field Trips
Campers go on field trips to other nearby parks on Tuesdays and Thursdays to add diversity to outdoor experiences. Field trip destinations may include Discovery Park, Carkeek Park, Lincoln Park, Hamlin Park, or the Arboretum, depending on the week's theme. Students ride in chartered school buses from King's Schools to and from field trip locations. Field trip locations are announced at least one week before each camp, and are included on the weekly schedules handed out the first Monday of each camp session.
West Seattle campers take Metro city buses to their field trip locations, where a convenient route is available.
The preschool and kindergarten sessions will not be going on field trips and will spend their week enjoying all that Magnuson Park has to offer.
Scholarships, member discounts, military family discounts
Seattle Audubon provides scholarships based on financial need. The scholarship application includes a spot for a child to write or draw, and requires a recommendation for the child by a non-related adult.
Scholarships typically cover between 25% and 85% of the total camp fee depending on financial need, and we ask that all families contribute to some portion of the camp fee. Payment plans are available at no charge; however, all payments must be complete two weeks prior to your child’s camp session. To learn more, contact the camp registrar.
Seattle Audubon members receive a discount on camp tuition, special member pricing in the Nature Shop, and more! We offer a comparable camp discount for military families.
